Come watch us this Saturday at 4pm in Abbey Basin!
Join Out of Sink in Penzance Harbour at 4pm on Sat 6 September for some impromptu eco-synchro!
It’s a chance to come together and remind the government to pull the plug on the toxic Rosebank Oil Field…
This event in Penzance is one of 15 other events across the country that aim to send a clear message to Prime Minister Keir Starmer: we don’t want Rosebank.
✍️ We’ll be sharing postcards to send to Andrew George MP, to encourage him to sign the Stop Rosebank pledge.
Local environmental groups including West Cornwall XR will be on hand if you'd like to connect with others who want to make a difference.
🏊♀️ So come, grab a postcard and add your name, as Out of Sink attempt to co-ordinate ourselves (mostly, we’re just terrified about jumping off the bridge, so that bit may take a while…!)
And to keep expectations realistic - you can see in the photo how hard it is for us to coordinate 🤣🤣 (thanks Henry Steedman)
But just because things are a bit tricky, doesn’t mean we stop trying 😉
❓What is Rosebank?❓
~ Rosebank is the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK. It’s owned primarily by Norwegian state oil giant Equinor, and would produce more CO2 than the annual emissions of the world’s 28 lowest-income countries combined.
~ The vast majority of its oil will be sold on the international market for export, doing nothing to lower energy bills or increase energy security here in the UK.
~ The pipeline will also run through a protected area of the North Sea, damaging this fragile ecosystem (including ancient clams, delicate corals, and rare deep sea sponges). And poses threats to whale, dolphin and seabird species. 🐳🐋🪸🐠
~ The project could also send over £250 million towards Delek Group - an Israeli fuel conglomerate that has been flagged by the UN for human rights violations in Palestine.
