As we start to think about the future of the Miner’s Chapel and our funding plans for the next 5 years to see these buildings repaired, restored and put to good use we have been working with a number of advisors to help define the scale of the tasks, the options to consider and the importance of the Miners’ Chapel as a significant and rare historic building.
With limited archive information available to us and our priority firmly set on understanding what the Miners’ Chapel means to the people it has been passed on to, we need your help to experience the Miners’ Chapel through your words and images.
From as far back as the 1800’s all the way through to yesterday, if you have a memory, a photo, a story of the Miners’ Chapel please share it with us.
We are opening the doors on Thursday 2 October from 3PM to 6PM to anyone and everyone who would like to drop by - we would really love to hear your stories.
If you can't make the drop in because of diaries, circumstance or distance and are happy to send us your story in writing then follow this link to see how: www.stjustminerschapel.com/mymemory
Sharing your lived experience and stories of the Miners’ Chapel, whether you are in St Just or as far away as Australia, America.. will make sure that our plans for a successful and thriving future for the Miners’ Chapel continue to represent the history of community life, miners migration, music and spirit that makes it a living emblem of Cornwall’s social, cultural and industrial heritage.
If you think of someone who needs to see our call for help please can you send them this post and feel free to share far and wide! Thank you.
