Witness a piece of film history with All the President’s Men starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman at the height of their powers.
The film is a real-life political thriller which follows Carl Bernstein (Hoffman) and Bob Woodward (Redford), two journalists investigating the Watergate scandal for the Washington Post.
The film, which renowned movie critic Roger Ebert described as “The most observant study of working journalists we’re ever likely to see in a feature film” would go on to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, as well as win 4 awards. It is a must see for any film fan.
This is the first of five films being screened as part of our American New Wave season.
The American New Wave was a film movement which began in 1967 and ran until 1980.
Influenced by the rise in director-driven films in France, the movement, also referred to as New Hollywood would see the rise of innovative storytelling and social commentary. The era would see the emergence of famous directors such as George Lucas.
