CaniX returns to Pembrey Country Park and forest. We love this venue for its endless options on forest trails and huge range of activities that can be enjoyed by all the family post race. Camping opens on Thursday 21st at 1pm and remains open until Tuesday 26 at 11am to allow you to avoid busy times and make the most of all the park facilities, including almost 4 square miles of forest, a long, wide, unspoilt, sandy beach, backed by sand dunes, stretching for approximately 8 miles, plus an onsite cafe and milk shake machine. If that's not enough there is also a closed road cycle route, ski slope, toboggan, frisbee golf and a mini train. Nearby towns of Burry Port and Kidwelli offer supermarkets and few hidden gems of cafes.
Saturday and Sunday is the 5KM on a slightly remodelled course to start at Car Park 1. We also have the have a go class for those new to the sport but also proves popular with new dogs, older dogs who are not ready to retire yet and of course our cubs and junior classes. This short course (approx 2km) will also run on Monday
Monday is the return of the 10KM, remodelled for last year this route heads deeper into the forest and offers fabulous views across the corsican pine as it works its way in a single circuit back to the start point.
Camping is available on the Archery field, this is a 15 minute walk or short warm up jog from the start area, and offers a quiet and sheltered spot away from the busiest areas of the park. Fresh water and toilet drop is available. We have also hired toilets and bins (please note it is the law to recycle in Wales and therefore you MUST sort your waste before depositing) Due to the dry weather we will only permit gas BBQ in the camping area. All other types of BBQ can be done in the designated area across from the entrance gate and where Hot ash bins are provided by the park. Camping opens at 1pm on Thursday 21st and closes at 11am on Tuesday 26th August, and is suitable for tents, motorhomes, vans and caravans.
