Dear friends,
Please join the City of Pawtucket, RI, and The Lafayette Trail, Inc., for the formal unveiling of our VERY FIRST Lafayette Trail marker in Rhode Island. This is a very special ceremony for us, for numerous reasons:
First, with the Pawtucket marker, our national trail will have achieved the milestone of having at least one marker in each of the 25 states visited by Lafayette during his final visit to the U.S. in 1824-1825. For a link to the formal announcement, please click on the following URL:

Second, this event kicks off a series of Lafayette Trail events in Rhode Island that will celebrate Lafayette's contributions to American freedom.
Third, the ceremony is being held on the day that Lafayette was in Pawtucket in 1824.
Fourth, this event has received institutional support from top Rhode Island officials. We are pleased to announce that Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg Amore and Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien have already confirmed their attendance. We expect more to join us for this historic occasion.
The public celebration for Lafayette will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at Pawtucket Veterans Memorial Amphitheatre, located at 175 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02860. The event will start at 10 am EDT and is projected to last up to one hour. The dedication ceremony will include remarks from all the stakeholders involved in the preparation of this historic marker, including, but not limited to, the City of Pawtucket, the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, and The Lafayette Trail, Inc..
The historic marker was donated by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., to the City of Pawtucket with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.
In conformity with the open-source philosophy of The Lafayette Trail, this educational event will be FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. No admission fees will be charged. No RSVP is required.
We hope to see you in Pawtucket in person! Thank you!!
