Permaculture Food Forest, Vegetable Garden and Water Retention
Landscape Strategies for a dry Mediterranean Ecosystem
This workshop will cover the basics of permaculture principles and
design, companion plant vegetable gardening, food forest creation, fruit tree planting, soil building, mulching, and WRL strategies. Together we will work to start planting a food forest with fruit trees and shrubs.
Poretsou Monastery is located between the two village settlements of Agrabela and Platanitsa, at an altitude of 800 m. by the Erymanthos River, in the Kalavrita Municipality of North Peloponnese. You will find a peacefully remote mountainous and pristine natural forest setting. It is a place to rest, restore, ground and recenter.

150€ per person - includes Material, Accommodation and Food
The cost of participation includes participation in the workshop, accommodation for 2 nights in a double or quadruple room at the Poretsou Monastery including breakfast, lunch and dinner vegetarian meals (arrival on Friday afternoon 10.10.2025 and departure on Sunday afternoon 12.10.2025), the provision of materials, protective equipment, as well as tools.
Travel expenses to and from the Poretsou Monastery and other personal expenses are covered by the participant. Car-pooling options will be given amongst the participants.

About the Facilitator:
Holly Gardner
Regenerative Land Steward, Landscape Designer, Farmer, and Horticulture Educator
For almost three decades Holly has been a practitioner of ecologically regenerative land stewardship in several countries, creating living landscapes that are dynamic, biodiverse, sustainable, edible, and beautiful. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of modalities in permaculture, organic and biodynamic horticulture, syntropic agroforestry, ecosystem
regeneration, water cycle landscaping, and regenerative landscape design. Recently she has been working on several ecosystem regeneration projects in the Mediterranean specifically related to creating small-scale permaculture homestead gardens, to encourage regional food Security. She has also been focused on developing best practices for post-wildfire reforestation and water cycle landscaping to reestablish natural hydrological cycles. Holly is from the Hudson Valley of New York Up-State in the US. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Bard College, USA, a PDC from the Center for Bioregional Living, USA, and a Biodynamic Horticultural Certificate from Oaklands Park UK. “I am most fulfilled when I can co-create with others in community, to facilitate ecosystem resiliency, with nature as our leader. For me this is the meaning of life, and the work I am here to do”
