THE LAB @ Prototype 237- An Immersive Experimental Creative Laboratory

Have an idea for an art or music project that you've been itching to try out but not sure where to experiment and unveil? Welcome to THE LAB!

An incubator for creative exploration for all- amateurs and professionals alike- where you can test drive something kinda fun and whacky in a safe and supportive environment of like-minded artsy fartsy types like yourself : )

The work does not have to be perfect. In fact, we rather prefer that it's a bit on the raw side. And the wilder, the better! Let's pull out all the stops and have some fun!

The evening will include:

Artists Creating Live, Featured Musicians, Live DJ Sets, Spoken Word/Poetry/Rap, Original Projection Art, Psychic Readings, BodyPainting and Henna Artists, A Silent Art Auction, Adult Beverage Bar, Elixirs, Vendors, Good Vibes and Muchos Mas!!

Come with an open mind and open heart, lots of energy and maybe a friend or two! All are welcome and not everyone has to share a project. Come SEE ART, MAKE ART & BE ART.

MORGANA'S CULTURE CLUB Founded by Morgana Zilarra in 2022 to create community, showcase and support emerging artists through immersive art and music experiences. It celebrates the human creative spirit- the creative spark that exists in each of us, that if nurtured, will ignite into a roaring inferno! It's raison d’étre being to inspire all to be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire…!

PROTOTYPE 237 ”Closest thing to Heaven!”

In August 2020, in response to the isolation and confinement of the Covid-19 Pandemic, six artists moved into 5,000 sq. feet of a bare historic warehouse on the banks of the Passaic River, just downstream from the Great Falls National Historic Site in downtown Paterson, NJ. We built a wood shop, bedrooms, bathrooms, a communal kitchen, and a professionally lit and sound-designed performance stage to create Prototype 237.

We have since grown our community to include 16 artists (including 5 Paterson Natives), added a 5,000 sq. ft. black box theater, a 5,000 sq. ft white-walled event and gallery space, and hosted over 350 performances, residencies, readings, and workshops of music, poetry, dance, theater, improvisation, and cinema, serving an audience of almost 4,000 people from New Jersey and the Northeast since 2020.

Prototype 237 is an experiment in creative co-living and community gathering. We draw inspiration from each other and our environment, harnessing that inspiration to make art, perform, and navigate life. Our residents and core community bring together their values, personalities, and skill sets to create an inclusive environment that is both enriching and productive. We exchange perspectives as much as creative processes.
