Join us for this point to point hike focusing on the urban Passaic River Watershed!
This time we meet in Mayor Johnson Park east of the river and near the Passaic Station. We'll hike directly from there to Hawthorne, and then take the train back.
The route leads us east to the Passaic River, and we cross over at Union Avenue. This will connect us with where we had been previously.
We'll head north through Memorial Park, and the rest of the hike will take us through on trails, back streets, and walkways close to the edge of the river most the entire way. It's really quite amazing how much of the area is accessible.
AS A BACKUP in case there is heavy snow cover, the alternative hike is mostly back streets following the historic rail lines and past station stops, which is interesting in its own way.
Distance will be about 15 miles. If anyone needs to uber out or walk to nearest station they can.
