In this this three-part presentation, we will hear about the continuously evolving Morris Canal Greenway in Warren County, including land acquisitions, new trail development, and the opening of a new museum, which includes a Morris Canal Interpretation Center.
There is also news about plans for a Morris Canal Greenway Visitor Center in Bloomfield and Little Falls, improvements to the Canal Museum at Waterloo, and additions to our programming at Lock 2 East in Wharton. You will hear about our new website and see maps and drawings that we have scanned from the NJ State Archives.
In addition, CSNJ Archivist John Prieto will tell us about the Morris Canal & Banking Company President Daniel Tyler and his role reshaping the company after its reorganization in 1844.
Lastly, you will have the opportunity to meet our new Executive Director; Laurie Boyle.

The D&R Canal State Park has evolved into one of the most popular destinations in NJ. This program will explore many of the beautiful sites along the D&R Canal Greenway, as well as the numerous recreational opportunities, including hiking, biking and paddling. Also, learn about the fascinating history of the D&R Canal corridor ranging in time from the American Revolution to the formation of the state park 50 years ago. In additional, learn about the challenges of maintaining the greenway during recent severe weather events.
Tim Roth is current Vice President of the Canal Society of NJ, and serves on the board of the D&R Canal Watch, Warren County Park Foundation, and on the Warren County Morris Canal Committee. He is involved in all aspects of the Morris and D&R Canal Greenways, including planning, interpretation, and maintenance and development of greenway trails and waterways.
