About the event

Food or fear? How cougars select den sites in a disturbed landscape.
Across their range, cougars inspire wonder, fear, and admiration. These elusive apex predators are a keystone species, regulating prey populations and providing carrion for scavengers.

Despite their ecological significance, very little is known about how cougars select where to give birth, a choice which is becoming more important in the changing landscapes they inhabit.

Join Alex Heffernan as he shares his research on cougar reproduction in the heavily disturbed forests of British Columbia, and discusses the uncertain future of cougars in Ontario.
