Public Meeting: Council's plan to include Clendon in a fortnightly trial

In 2024, an Auckland Council committee proposed to conduct a fortnightly household rubbish collection trial, which would apply to thousands of Auckland households.

Daniel Newman was the only South Auckland Councillor to vote against the proposed trial (however, the motion was passed).

Last week, Auckland Council made public a plan to proceed to a trial of fortnightly rubbish collections. The communities of Clendon and Weymouth have been selected as trial areas!

Fortnightly rubbish collections enjoy very limited support. However, the Council has proposed that Clendon and Weymouth residents – you and your family – should be part of this trial.

Many residents will be deeply concerned about this proposal. We want the community to be aware of what we face, and we want the community to be ready to respond to this trial.

Come along to the Te Matariki Community Centre (in the whare kai), on Wednesday 10 September. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm meeting.
