Stafford lure racing fun run Saturday November 22nd
Dogs NZ Grounds 743 Papakura-Clevedon Road Ardmore, Auckland
Bookings essential via a message to us.
When you come in the main gate the race area is to the LEFT. PLEASE arrive by 5pm so we can organise run order and start racing on time at 5.30pm
Ken Taylor of the Whippet Club is running the lure for us and his instructions must be followed for everyone’s safety! Ken has the final say on whether a dog can run/how far it can run.
All dogs must be on leash at all times when not racing.
All dogs must be in your car or in a crate close to your car when not running. Immediately after racing you will be able to cool off your dog in a separate area before returning them to the car/crate.
Dogs will run singularly. The first run will be just for practice and to see which dogs need help learning what to do. Time is available for this and might include you running with your dog to encourage him so come prepared to exercise! The second run will be timed but even if your dog didn’t do very well the first time you will get a second run, don’t go home early.
Puppies 6-12 months old will only be allowed to run 50 metres.
For all other dogs you have the choice of 50m, 75m or 100m. This will be organised before the start of racing.
Your dog must wear a buckle/clip collar when racing. No harnesses, chains, slip collars etc.
All dogs need a “releaser” and a “catcher”. If you are attending on your own one of the Stafford Club Committee will be available to release your dog if needed. Both releaser & catcher must be physically capable of holding a very over excited dog.
Please keep your dog away from strange dogs. Lure racing is a very exciting sport for most dogs; their energy levels will be high and even the most normally relaxed dog may be over stimulated and easily aroused.
There will be water available but ideally bring your own water and bowl, a cool coat or mat if you have one, even a fan if it’s particularly hot. If the temperature is extreme racing will be delayed until Ken Taylor is satisfied it’s safe to run.
If it’s extremely wet or muddy racing will unfortunately be cancelled – you will be notified.
Remember to grab your free snag off the BBQ (one for each entry) – extras available for $2 - cold soft drinks & water for sale also, along with club merchandise.
