About Raymond Messick:
Coach Messick dedicated nearly three decades to shaping young lives through baseball and the community volunteerism. Coach Messick was born and raised in Millville, a WWII Navy veteran, and coach as part of the Fred Bishop League. As a baseball coach in Bay County for 29 years, he earned a reputation for discipline, integrity, and heart—leading his teams to multiple conference and district championships. He was a fixture in the lives of countless young athletes, teaching not just the game but the values of perseverance and sportsmanship.
He was inducted into the Florida Coaches Hall of Fame and was remembered in 1988 by the News Herald as “a man of influence whose legacy lives on in the lives he touched.” His players respected him, his colleagues admired him, and the community cherished him.
