Make birthdays, holidays, and events extra special by learning how to bake and decorate your own cakes with us!
Join us as Keisha Kelly with The Cottage in the Woods Bakery leads a 4 week class in learning the basics on how to bake a cake, make icing, and different ways to decorate! Each student will receive one starter decorating kit. However, you are welcome to bring any tools you may already have but may not know how to use.
The class schedule:
October 23 - Week 1: Learn the Basics
*learn your tools
*how to bake, prepare, ice a cake
*types of frosting and how to color
Homework: bake a cake, prep and ice for next class
October 30 - Week 2: Basics - Piping and Borders
*learn to prepare, fill, hold bag
*simple buttercream techniques: lines, dots, rosettes, shells, stars, ruffles
*Writing: cursive and print
*borders: shell, rope, reverse shell, bead
*decorate the cake you brought with the skills you learned
November 6 - Week 3: Buttercream Flowers
*learn rosettes, drop flowers, daisies, roses
*using a flower nail for roses
*designing a cake theme (color palette, layout, placement)
Homework: practice flowers, bake cake or cupcakes for final project
November 13 - Week 4: Final Project Fun Day
*we put all our skills to the test on our final cake
*instructor assistance with skills and design
