Christmas Collection Back of House Tour

Before you deck the halls at home, why not get some inspiration from Christmases past?

You probably haven’t even thought about putting pipe cleaners on your tree or baking a cake in a kerosene can! Luckily, the collection at Te Manawa has all the examples you need.

Join the Collections and Curatorial team as we unwrap our Christmas collection. You will discover decorations quaint and quirky, hinting at how festive fashions have changed over time.

We have TWO tours available - why not join us for one of them?

Tour 1: 12pm - 1pm
Tour 2: 1pm - 2pm

Expect the unexpected, too. It’s not just fashion trends that have shaped Christmas traditions. Major moments in history can be retold with something as simple as a Christmas cake tin.
