Master Composter Class - REGISTRATION REQUIRED

The Borough offers composting classes free of charge to Mat-Su residents. Registration is REQUIRED by sending an email to Y29tcG9zdCB8IG1hdHN1Z292ICEgdXM= or calling 907-795-3722.

The goals of the MSB Composting classes are to train & empower compost experts throughout the Mat-Su Borough to educate residents, businesses, schools, dog mushers, farmers, stable managers, and organizations to compost organic wastes; provide expertise to entrepreneurs wanting to start innovative composting and organic waste-reduction businesses; provide certified composters with a compost hotline; and reduce organic wastes at the landfill and transform them into beneficial product.

Certified Master Composting Classes are 1-day courses that will teach you how to blend and compost a wider variety of feedstocks for proper C:N rations, trouble-shoot piles for moisture, temperature, aeration & odor, manage larger-scale vermiculture operations, and process larger volumes of compost with static & thermal pile methods.

Master Composters are expected to pledge service hours to train others and/or start a neighborhood composting program.

PREREQUISITE: BOTH Backyard Composter Certificate and Vermi-Composter Certificate required.
