Jolabokabuchaflod 2025
"Where Bok meets Booch"
Jolabokaflod is a beloved Icelandic tradition, created for Palmer as a two day book and chocolate exchange event, back for it's 6th year at 203 Kombucha.
It is simple, bring a new or gently used book and new, unopened chocolate, and exchange for a book and chocolate of your choice. No need to wrap books or chocolate.
There will be tables for adults and children and a chocolate table, of course.
The culture of giving books as presents, on Christmas Eve, is deeply rooted in the Icelandic tradition, and now, Palmer as well, in year number six.
Jolabokaflod means "Christmas book flood", and is the time when most newly published books are released. Here for Palmer, we have reimagined the tradition and blended books, chocolate and Kombucha in our annual Jola-boka-bucha-flod!
Hopefully, this popular Icelandic style of gift giving, will warm its way into your heart and Alaskan home.
As in the Icelandic tradition, may you also enjoy a bit of peace and reflection this Holiday Season with a good book, rich chocolate and perhaps some Kombucha.
The tables will be "seeded" with new books complements of Fireside Bookstore and also recycled books from the ReUsed Bookstore at VCRS. I encourage you to shop local, new or lightly used or recycle and old favorite for this event.
Our town has a seemingly endless supply of good chocolate as well.
Happy Holidays.
