Weekly Sessions Watercolor Sketching with Kristen Olson Stone

This is for anyone who’d love to learn the art of travel sketching!

You'll gain the ability to see things differently as I share a casual approach to composition, sketching and color mixing skills. We will use travel-sized sketching kits that are easy to store and take along anywhere!

Each week we will meet at a different indoor or outdoor location. Our friendly group will be small with a maximum of 6 students. It's a lot of fun to sketch in a cafe, at an inviting resort or in the majestic beauty of our outdoor desert environment.

Sketching is a Zen kind of art as it's meditative, calming and a lot of fun!

I fill the tin with tubes using these Rembrandt brand colors:

• 12 watercolors: Cadmium lemon, Azo yellow deep, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, permanent red deep, quinacridone purple bluish, quinacridone rose, ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, manganese blue phthalo, phthalo green, hookers green deep. I recommend arranging them in the same way as I have (see photo).

• A lead holder with a 2B lead and a white plastic eraser.

• A TWSBI Diamond 580 refillable fine point pen filled with De Atramentis document ink.

• A #6 Silverbrush Black Velvet Voyage travel brush

• A white Posca acrylic pen

• A 6" x 8" or 8" x 10" sketchbook. Paper weight should be between 90lb - 140lb.

This is all I need to sketch absolutely anything! The entire kit fits into my small purse so it's perfect for taking anywhere! Watercolor sketching is extremely popular right now and there are a lot of great travel set options and you can bring any travel kit that you'd like!
