POP UP TAKEAWAY THIS FRIDAY
Kia ora folks, Helen Keivom is doing a one off fundraiser this Friday with guest cook Sam Buchanan for Internally Displaced People (IDP) in her home town of Churachandpur on the Indian-Burmese border. This is to buy waist looms and yarn for women in the refugee camps so they can make a living and also has the added benefit of preserving cultural skills.
Read about a fantastic initiative by a truly brilliant young woman Jessica Vaiphei who buys looms and yarn for the women in the camps and takes the woven products to market with all proceeds (and fresh yarn) going back to the women. The journalist who wrote the article is a bona fide legend through whom Helen was able to get in touch with Jessica. Please read her inspiring story and the background.
