About the event

Sacred Pulse - Ecstatic Dance & Sound Journey for Palestine Fundraiser

Join us for an Ecstatic Dance and Sound Journey to raise vital funds for Mahmoud Al-Madhoun and his family, who are from Northern Gaza. These are real people, and the fact that we can make a difference through dance and music is amazing. Outside of the politics, we are all human, and we have the opportunity to help those who truly need it. In the name of community and peace we come together to provide aid and to be the change we want to see.

This event is about unity, and supporting equal rights and opportunities for ALL. This is about coming together and doing what we can to contribute to our collective humanity.

100% of proceeds will go to the family.

You are welcome to donate even if you do not wish to attend.

When: Saturday 2nd August
6:30pm-9:30pm

Where: St Peter's Hall, Paekākāriki

Mahmoud shares four children with his wife, Nour. They have a baby girl named Omnia (age 1), and three sons, Team (3), Ahmed (7) and Faiz (11). Omnia and her mother, Nour, were evacuated from Gaza via ambulance during the last ceasefire, before hostilities resumed. Unfortunately, Mahmoud and Omnia’s three big brothers were denied evacuation. Thus, the boys remain in Gaza with Mahmoud, where things are painfully difficult. Like all Palestinians, they are struggling to survive and the hardships just keep intensifying.

Upon arrival in Cairo, Omnia had to wait weeks for open heart surgery, a life saving treatment that she required at birth. With Gaza under constant bombardment, Omnia was unable to have surgery once her parents learned of her condition shortly after her birth.

Mahmoud and Nour have lost everything, their house, their livelihoods, and have been forced to evacuate multiple times, all while managing the complexities that come with supporting a child with difficult medical needs. Their suffering has been further exacerbated because of them being separated, meaning Mahmoud was unable to support his daughter and wife during surgery. No parent ever should be forced to endure such dire and heartbreaking circumstances.

This event is a call for community, compassion, and action — every dollar raised will go directly to help Mahmoud provide basic necessities and rebuild a sense of safety and hope for his family.

Let’s come together in movement and music to support this family in their time of urgent need. Your presence and contribution can truly make a difference.

She draws upon her professional background and experience in trauma support work, blending themes of collective consciousness and justice into her sound offerings.

She brings deep love and wisdom into every tone and vibration she channels. Her sound frequencies and crystal-clear presence invite you into a realm of deep remembering, restoration, and renewal through the power of sound.

Lisa Schady — Voice of the Sacred

Lisa Schady is a captivating performing artist known for curating transformative spaces using her powerful voice and intuitive mic presence. With deep reverence, she guides participants through emotional landscapes with safety and intention. If you’ve ever stepped into one of her temples, you’ll know—Lisa creates sacred containers where what’s alive within can rise and be felt.

Andrzej — Musical Mystic

Andrzej is a musician extraordinaire whose ecstatic dance sets are a journey in themselves. With a rich tapestry of tribal beats, global rhythms, and soul-stirring melodies, he’ll guide us up, in, through, and out—awakening the body, stirring the spirit, and inviting pure, embodied expression. His music opens portals to presence, joy, and freedom. Offering an expansive celebration of dance and movement in the name of peace.

Saxon Brazier holds a Diploma in Music and Event Management. Deeply moved and conflicted by the ongoing genocide in Gaza, she has spearheaded this kaupapa as a way to turn anguish into action—organizing efforts to raise funds and awareness in support of a family’s urgent journey to safety.

This is a heartfelt collaboration among fellow lovers and peacemakers.

The idea of this event was spurred by the desire to come together as a community, to hold one another in our shared grief and upset over the gross display of horrific violence being perpetrated against entire Palestinian communities in Gaza and the West Bank that is currently being met with impunity.

In principle, the organisers of this event hold the view that international humanitarian law is applicable to ALL people, regardless of their ethnic, racial or religious background. Thus we vehemently condemn all contraventions of international humanitarian law. International legal doctrines MUST be respected. Our leaders don’t get to choose who these doctrines apply to, and who they do not.

In our coming together, it is important that all participants are made aware that the event organisers have zero tolerance for hate speech, or sentiments of discrimination, including Islamophobia, antisemitism, and racism generally. We celebrate inclusivity.

It is of the upmost importance that all participants feel welcome and safe, and that we show up, in heart, together, to proclaim our shared humanity with ALL beings.

Given the intensity of emotions that some of our community members are feeling in bearing witness to such widespread atrocity crimes, we will ensure that we have a “quiet” space available on the day should anyone need quiet introspection.

This event is about unity, and supporting equal rights and opportunities for ALL. This event is about coming together and doing what we can to contribute to our collective humanity.
