The 2025 W. C. Young Community Center 8th of August Emancipation Celebration Sneaker Ball is a part of the overall festivities commemorative the emancipation date of the enslaved people in KY and TN on August 8, 1863. This year's theme is Legacy & Lineage: A Celebration of HBCU Pride & Divine Nine (D-9) Power. Throughout the week's celebrations, we will honor HBCU alumni and members of our D-9 organizations. The Sneaker Ball presents an opportunity for past and present American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS) to fellowship, reflect, and remember those who have gone before us and to set a precedent for our future generations.

Join us for a celebratory event dressed to the nines with your flyest kicks! It's a BYOF (bring your own food) affair with a live band, a cash bar, and an on-site photographer. This will be a night to remember, so don't miss out!

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door; 8-seat reserved tables available for $200 each. Tickets will go fast, so get yours while you can!
