Freestyle DanceJam is a 20+ year ecstatic dance tradition here in the Monterey Bay Area. There is a rich history of these events in the central coast, pre-dating rave culture and Burning Man. Think of it as meditative, communal dance (somewhere between yoga and a dance party).
The mission is to leave your ego at home, and come dance like no one is watching — in the safety of a judgement-free zone. Be a freak or a zoner or a goofball or a graceful swan — the choice is yours.
I've been DJinga and collecting records of all genres for 20 years. My plan is to prepare records from a wide range of musical styles and take y’all on a real trip. Ambient, funk, rock, disco, house, techno, afrobeat, percussion jams — all on the table.
