Māh Ze Tār

Māh Ze Tār is propelled by the vision of fusing traditional eastern music with modern electronic composition as a form of cultural preservation. Each Māh Ze Tār set is uniquely dynamic - The listener can expect to hear the ancient sounds of the Sitar and Oud in one song and the timeless melodies of the Hulusi, Ney and Duduk in the next - bringing a kaleidoscope of emotions through the wide plethora of ancient sounds, mesmerizing vocals, and grooving beats. Māh Ze Tār seeks to make familiar that which seems “other” through serving the sounds of distant lands on a platter of familiar body moving bass lines and thumping grooves. Māh Ze Tār was an active performing member of Balkan Bump for 3 years and hashad significant musical collaborations with Desert Dwellers, David Starfire, Jef Stott, Morillo, Akriza, Nyrusand many others. Notable performances- Red Rocks, Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Gem & Jam, JoshuaTree, Lucidity, Symbiosis, Oregon Eclipse, Oregon Country Fair, Haurkaze Tokyo Festival.

Human Being Behind the Project-

Maz Karandish is a Devotee of music - a well traveled vocalist & multi-instrumentalist covering grounds from Rāga, Maqām, and Dastgāh to Harmony, Jazz, and Opera. Maz feels deeply connected to the ancient musical traditions of the east that he began learning at a very young age. As an Ethnomusicologist and a practicing Psychologist, he has come to recognize that people in his generation have an easier time engaging with traditional music when it’s integrated with familiar rhythmic and sonic environments. Maz devotes his musical time to exploring the possible weaving of Indian, Persian, Greek and Turkish music with modern soundscapes. He is currently most interested in the integration of Indian Dhrupad and Persian Tahrir singing with electronic composition.

Peace Sine

Peace Sine is a music producer seeking to raise vibrations through soundscapes. A goal of the project is to bring people together through music and dance, creating an environment that results in Love and Peace.

Peace Sine began his musical journey in the eastern United States. After moving to California and feeling inspired by nature, the sound of the project was able to fully transform into what we know it as today.

One of his wishes is to connect his audience to their inner bliss through his orchestration of textures, rhythms, and sound design. He hopes to inspire others to express themselves individually and collaboratively through all art forms.

Jämí

Jämi Deva is a treasured part of the Big Island Ecstatic Scene as both a leader and a performer. Often, he can be found accompanying Sunday DJs at Kalani with live djembe. It's always a journey of connection when Jämi is guiding our intentional dances.A true musicologist, Jämi sources and rides the emergent wave of sonic innovation. His mixes span all genres and tempos of dance music serving up an alchemical elixir of multi-dimensional sound wizardry. Jami elegantly plays live percussion during his set which uniquely activates the shamanic potential of the dance floor. His beats are a ceremonial carnival of epic proportion. His artistry is truly unique - he is gifted and clearly called to hold some very new and transformational frequencies. Practicing with the Sufi's for over 20 years, Jämi is a visionary producer withan ear for the exotic. Jämi believes that Breath, Movement & Music are the keys to unlocking human potential.

Dros

Dros is an emerging fusion project by Alexander Karvelas that breathes futurity into tradition. Alexander specializes in traditional Greek music, while also drawing on over fifteen years of disciplined study of Middle Eastern and North Indian traditions, drawing out their points of historical and aesthetic convergence and building musical-cultural bridges across time, space, and memory. Dros is currently working on his first full length album of traditional Greek music, set to release in the winter of 2024. Since long before the inception of the Dros project, Alexander has been acting out his mission to serve as a vessel for the music and for lineages of ecstatic expression—he has performed and toured extensively with the fusion project Mah Ze Tar, collaborated in the studio with producers such as Nyrus, Akriza, Soohan, and Peace Sine, composing and tracking live instrumentals and vocals in electronic contexts. Through these collaborations, and through decades of live performance on stage, Alexander sews seeds of musical reawakening; reawakening listeners, dancers, and audiences not just to the beauty of tradition, but to its aliveness.
