A Terminator built with Windows 95 must travel back in time to Dudley on a quest to save humanity, and to discover what it means to be human.
Judgment Day: 1997. Humanity is destroyed by Skynet, an AI weapons system which becomes self-aware and launches a nuclear apocalypse which kills three billion people. A decades-long war against the machines ensues as humanity fights for its survival.
Tuesday: 2032. The war is over, and those who remain struggle to find a way to rebuild from the ashes. All seems hopeless, until one woman volunteers for cybernetic enhancement to become a Terminator built using the only software which survived – Windows 95. She travels through time to 1992 on a quest through the West Midlands to stop Judgment Day. Will she succeed?
I’ll Be Back is the story of an embittered Cyberdyne Systems scientist (Dudley branch) who must become a Windows 95 Terminator, and travel back in time in order to right all of her wrongs. This troubled and malfunctioning killing machine returns to a world before Judgment Day on a quest to save humanity from the robots she helped to create, and to discover what it means to be human.
Why See This Show?
I’ll Be Back is an action-packed 60 minutes of apocalyptic devastation, robotic transformation, emotional reunion, and how a plan formed in the Brierley Hill Blockbusters can save the world. It is a journey through the space-time continuum and a quest to prevent nuclear holocaust, guided by the wisdom of Microsoft’s Clippy. Powered by dial-up internet, and featuring 90s pop hits and amateur contemporary dance (which some viewers may find offensive), I’ll Be Back is an adventure for all to enjoy, but is also a real treat for fans of the proper Terminator films (1 and 2).
What the Critics Say:
“Comedy, tragedy, time travel, motorcycle chases, impressively rendered explosions, and (of course) a montage all squeezed into its runtime” – DAILY INFO
“Genuine poignancy wrapped in clever quips, pop culture references and bravado.” – DAILY INFO
‘Entertaining, highly skilful, innovative and moving – I’ll Be Back is the kind of generous piece of theatre that will charm theatre and comedy lovers alike’ – Mike Tweddle, CEO, Oxford Playhouse
‘Justine has a precision with tone and comedy, but also a real sense of emotional truth. She also has an excellent sense of how to make work which is both popular and of wide-appeal but also profound and meaningful’ – Mike Bartlett (Doctor Foster, Unicorn, Chariots of Fire)
