Also this is a chance for me to drop some news on you all. I have included a whole lot of people I don't usually include on these emails because they don't live in Alabama. Every one of you cared enough to join this organization at some time, and a whole lot of you joined with two or three hundred dollars, enough to carry lifetime membership. We treasure each one of you and you deserve to be in the know.
There have been big unforeseen changes in my life and I will need to step down at the end of the year. It is vitally important that this organization have a secretary and a treasurer. And a membership director. They can be three people, two people, or one person. To date they have been one person. Of all the people on this mailing list (and yes, I know I've hidden it), I know there are many who can handle the job. I have six months to make the transition. It can be a very gentle transition and believe it or not, the organization will benefit from new blood and new ideas.
I doubt if anyone can come in with any more enthusiasm for the movement than I have had and do have. But there are those who are better managers, I feel sure.
DO NOT LET YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS DOWN. Think hard about whether you can step up. It's a blast. And when it's fun, the work gets done. Talk to your peeps and see if you can team up on any of the positions. There is NO WAY that Dixie ABATE should stumble over this change of leadership.
While we're at it, we need an Assistant State Director too.
Come to the meeting. Let's talk about it.
