Writing for Legacy and Others
Is there a story in your family that is begging to be told? Maybe it's a story that can be fleshed out for your family. Or maybe it's a story you can research and tweak for a broader market.
Whichever way you'd like to go, you can find direction and help at our August meeting with Elaine McAllister.
Elaine has become an expert at helping authors pursue generational storytelling, which she frequently teaches in area libraries. Elaine decided to pursue generational storytelling for her latest book, "All Aboard! The Adventures of Miss Ratcliff."
At this meeting, Elaine will explain her journey skillfully combining 1) limited information from her grandma's journal, 2) family history/genealogy, 3) historical information about the era (early 1900s), and 4) research of the areas visited (Kansas to the West Coast) to create a book that readers love. Come to the August 2025 HACWN meeting, as Elaine will touch on some of her generational storytelling material, and encourage attendees to write and leave lasting legacies for their own families and other readers.
Meetings are from 7 to 9. All are welcome to attend. Dues are $3 for members; $5 for non-members.
Besides generational storytelling, Elaine is skilled at ghostwriting, and has published five other books.
