Join artist Hadley Clark on Saturday, August 16, from 1-3 p.m. for a mending workshop. Breathe new life into clothing or blankets you’ve set aside due to stains, holes, or changing styles! Discover methods of collaging fabric remnants onto worn textiles using hand sewing and textile scraps – all provided by The Salon.
In a blend of creativity and function, watch as Hadley demonstrates her own approach to mending, then try it yourself with easy guidance. Discussions and demos will include simple hand sewing methods. All levels of experience are welcome to join. Bring a garment or blanket you’d like to mend and any textile remnants you wish to incorporate.
Hadley Clark is an artist whose studio practice has involved working with textile remnants in the creation of new garments for nearly 10 years. Though her interest in material reuse was initially driven by her own creative curiosity, it has since evolved into a holistic practice, as an answer to the devastating social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry. Her studio output now consists entirely of one-of-a-kind, handmade garments, a rare and inspired find in today’s world of fast fashion and cultural homogeneity.
This event is free, but space is limited and RSVP is required.
This workshop will be offered again on Thursday, September 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
