Langat -työpaja [Threads Workshop]

Osana Ellen Eurenius Hallgrenin näyttelyä järjestetään yleisölle avoin näyttelykierros lauantaina 6.9. klo 13 alkaen, joka jatkuu klo 14 näyttelyn kuvatulvaan pureutuvalla työpajalla Photo North – Pohjoisen valokuvakeskuksen galleriassa. Avoin työpaja on käynnissä klo 17 saakka, mutta kukin osallistuja voi osallistua haluamansa ajan. Työpajan aikana taiteilija kutsuu tutustumaan kuvien katsomiseen, yhdistämiseen ja luomaan uusia narratiiveja kuvien välille neulontatekniikan avulla. Työpaja on avoin kaikille valokuvan katsomisesta ja siihen liittyvästä keskustelusta kiinnostuneille.

Työpaja on osallistujille maksuton ja siihen mahtuu 20 henkilöä. Työpajan pyydetään ilmoittautumaan ennakkoon linkin kautta 5.9. klo 16 mennessä. Tuo mukanasi vanhoja valokuvia sekä leikkeitä sanoma- ja aikakauslehdistä, uutisista sekä mainoksista, jotka saavat muuntua kollaasiksi työpajan aikana.

Tukholmalainen taiteilija Ellen Eurenius Hallgren, tutkii mahdollisuuksia ja muistoja, jotka syntyvät yhdistämällä henkilökohtaisia ja perhevalokuvia löydettyihin kuviin, asiakirjoihin sekä muihin materiaaleihin. Hänen teoksensa ehdottavat uusia tapoja olla ja kertoa tarinoita. Eurenius Hallgren työskentelee usein kollaasien, montaasien ja ompelun parissa sekä kokoaa sosiaalisesti ja historiallisesti merkityksellisiä materiaaleja uskoen, että ne tarjoavat polun johonkin syvempään, johonkin näkyvän tai tunnetun ulkopuolelle.

Eurenius Hallgren on suorittanut taiteen kandidaatin tutkinnon Bergenin taide- ja muotoiluakatemiassa (2020) ja taiteen maisterin tutkinnon Tukholman kuninkaallisessa taideakatemiassa (2022).

Threads Workshop

As part of Ellen Eurenius Hallgren's exhibition, there will be a public exhibition tour on Saturday, September 6th, starting at 1 pm, followed by a workshop focusing on the exhibition's flood of images at 2 pm at the Photo North – Northern Photography Center gallery. The workshop will be open until 5 pm, but participants can stay for as long as they wish. During the workshop, the artist invites participants to view and combine images and create new narratives between them using knitting techniques. The workshop is open to anyone interested in viewing photographs and discussing the flow of images.

The workshop is free of charge for participants and has room for 20 people. Please register for the workshop in advance via the link by 4 pm on September 5th. Bring along old photographs and clippings from newspapers, magazines, articles, and advertisements, which will be transformed into collages during the workshop.

Stockholm-based artist Ellen Eurenius Hallgren explores the possibilities and memories that arise from combining personal and family photographs with found images, documents, and other materials. Her works suggest new ways of being and telling stories. Eurenius Hallgren often works with collages, montages, and sewing, compiling socially and historically significant materials in the belief that they offer a path to something deeper, something beyond the visible or known.

Eurenius Hallgren holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design (2020) and a Master of Arts degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm (2022).
