Van Etten is proud to present Schooner, a solo exhibition by Titus Boguslaw.
The exhibition "Schooner" is an interaction of seemingly mundane motifs. They form an emotive and gestural bond, each image using a different phrasing of a common leitmotif. Rendered from photographs, the process of their conception can be likened to the Freudian term "besetzung" (cathexis). By cathecting an image it is imbued with qualities that can elevate it from mere depiction, and thus disappropriate it from the photographic material.
Boguslaws artistic practice revolves around using images for the aim of achieving poetic precision. His focus is the unconcealment of the obscured and to amplify the verisimilitude it may contain.
Titus Boguslaw (b.1987) is based in Oslo, Norway. He was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo (Khio), and at Hgb. Leipzig (Prof. Heribert Ottersbach). Earlier exhibitions include ”Som ein draum sokk skuggane i jorda”, Gamle Munch Oslo (2024), ”Painters salon”, Södertälje Konsthall, Stockholm (2024).
