We are honoured and thrilled to invite yogis and meditators to this very special initiation ceremony, given by lama Jhampa Shaneman. This is a rare and sacred occasion, wherein we are given the opportunity to receive great blessings, and to awaken the highest potential within ourselves. It also connects us to a lineage of spirituality that dates back to the Buddha himself - an unbroken chain of initiation that has lasted more than 3000 years. This initiation is to the tantra of Green Tara - the Great Female Buddha. Green Tara helps us conquer fear, and empowers us to deeply and swiftly heal ourselves and others.

Tantric initiation, or wang in Tibetan, is a sacred ceremony in which a qualified teacher introduces the student to a specific deity’s enlightened energy. It plants the seed of awakening by granting permission, blessings, and access to the practice. This empowers the student to engage in deity meditation as a path to realize their own innate Buddha-nature. Participants in this initiation will be given a special practice after having received the initiation.
Green Tara, the embodiment of enlightened activity and fearless compassion, is known as the “Mother of all Buddhas.” She embodies the enlightened feminine. Her radiant green form symbolizes dynamic action, always ready to come to the aid of beings in need. Practicing Green Tara connects us to the swift energy of liberation—she cuts through fear, dissolves obstacles, and awakens our innate courage and wisdom.
Taking the Green Tara initiation is not merely symbolic—it is a profound gateway into a lineage of awakened compassion. This blessing plants the seed of Tara’s enlightened mind in your own consciousness, opening the path for deep inner transformation. Through her mantra and visualization practices, we invoke her presence and, gradually, become like her—fearless, compassionate, and free. In the initiation, we receive her essence, which then - if we nourish it - will continue to grow within us and throughout our lives.
This is a rare and special occasion for those of you who want to make a deeper commitment to being of service to the world. Through this initiation, you will be linked to Tara, and her energy will flow through you. An initiation is a magical, profound experience wherein we’re deeply purified, and moved towards freedom in our deepest being. Taking tantric initiation is a dedication, wherein we firmly and truly commit ourselves to the path of liberation - and wherein the lineage of enlightened energies, throughout space and time, answers by entering our mindstreams in joy and compassion.
To receive the initiation requires that one considers himself or herself a bodhisattva, someone who seeks liberation in order to serve the world.
You do not need to bring anything, as all instructions will be given during the ritual itself. We do however accentuate that this is a very sacred occasion, and thus ask you to come with a mindset of receptivity and celebration.
The ceremony will begin with an introduction and some opening prayers and practices by ngakpa Henrik Lysøe in order to make the mind, heart and body ready to receive the blessings transmitted in the initiation. After that, lama Jhampa will perform the initiation ritual. As a conclusion, participants will receive prasad, or consecrated food, as a little celebration of the initiation, and their new status as tantric initiates. If you want to bring offerings to the temple, we suggest you bring incense, flowers or food that can be shared between all participants.
After having received the initiation, lama Jhampa will teach the two following Thursdays, at the same time. In these classes, you will be instructed in how the practice can be employed in order to heal yourself and others. These can be attended digitally, and over recording.
Note that we will have limited spaces for this event. We firmly encourage you to sign up early. Signing up includes the initiation itself, which must be attended live, in addition to two instruction-classes wherein you’ll learn how to use the tantric technology in your daily life, which either can be attended live or via recording. It also includes a sadhana, or exclusive practice for initiates.
