In this new event series, Creating Shame-Free Pl3a$ure, we focus on our relationship to p0rn.
On May 13, we’ll host an open space for men to share their feelings and experiences with p0rn freely and without shame. This event is open to men and non-binary people only, to ensure a safe and supportive space where participants can express themselves and ask questions. A future discussion will be dedicated to women and non-binary people.
Some estimates suggest that around 80% of men have accessed p0rn at some point. For many boys, p0rn becomes their first source of information about intimacy and $-ex. Yet the use of p0rn is often surrounded by shame. Anti-p0rn feminists have portrayed men who consume p0rn as complicit in the oppression of and violence against women, while conservative groups have condemned p0rn for encouraging non-procreative $-ex and threatening the family as a fundamental social unit.
As a result, many men develop a complicated relationship with p0rn, where feelings of Pl3a$ure and guilt, among others, become deeply intertwined.
At this event, we aim to create a space where men can openly share and discuss their experiences with and feelings about p0rn. This will be a group discussion rather than a panel, offering an honest, shame-free environment where no judgments will be made.
Bring your guilt, your worries, and your Pl3a$ure, and let’s air them out together.
