«Incel» er både en identitet og en ideologi. Den baserer seg på at ens verdi bestemmes av om man har sex eller ikke – og at det er kvinnens feil dersom de ikke får seg noe. Incels er ofte koblet til den radikale høyresiden, og finner gjerne samhold i subkulturer på internett – der de støtter hverandre i disse negative tankegangene.
