About the event

Awakening The Wisdom of Five Taras
In these events, we will invoke five faces of the divine mother Tara, the great mother goddess of Himalayan Tantra, and through meeting the goddess in her various expressions, stir the sparks of liberated energy within ourselves.

Tara is a beloved female Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism, known as the Mother of Liberation. She embodies the enlightened feminine energy of compassion, wisdom, and action. Born from the tears of Avalokiteshvara (the bodhisattva of compassion), she vowed to always take female form to aid beings in need. Tara embodies the grace of life, the miraculous and mighty power of love. When we work with Tara, we truly open ourselves up to being receptive to the omnipresent goodness of the universe.

There are many forms of Tara, but the most well-known are the 21 Taras, each representing a different quality — from protection and healing to abundance and fierce transformation. The tantric mother goddess shows herself to us in the manifestation we need the most - from the gentle, loving mother to the fierce, fearless protectress. Tara is swift in answering prayers, especially those related to fear, obstacles, and spiritual awakening.

The journey is suitable for everyone who wants to deepen their spiritual practice through the wisdom of Tara — with sacred rituals, meditations, embodied practices and personal symbolism.

𝟬𝟳.𝟬𝟴: 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 - also known as Nyurma Pamo, the Swift Heroine - brings swift compassion, courage, and liberation. She brings us openness, safety and faith. She is the mother of liberation we can always rely on.

𝟭𝟰.𝟬𝟴: 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 or Sonam Torbche - the highest giver - bestows wealth, abundance, and wisdom. She shows us our resources and value, and shines her light on all that is worthy and beautiful in our lives. She helps us to see the abundance we always have at our disposal, if only we look.

𝟮𝟭.𝟬𝟴: 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 - Jigje Chenmo - or the fearsome one- is a fierce protector who destroys fear and obstacles. Through her blessings we attain the ability to burn illusions, confront what scares us and remain courageous and true no matter the situation. Her wrathful energy is an expression of the tremendous force of love, which destroys all obstacles.

𝟮𝟴.𝟬𝟴: 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 Wangdu Rigje Lhamo the goddess of power - - magnetizes and enhances love, power, and spiritual influence. 𝟬𝟰.𝟬𝟵: 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 - or “Chenma”, “the smiling one” - heals all wounds and grants long life with her peaceful, nurturing energy. This energy represents balance, and the power to embody true peace. 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist ritual involving symbolic food offerings, usually made from barley flour, butter, and other ingredients, shaped into sacred forms. Tormas are offered to deities, spirits, protectors, and even obstacles, as a way to create harmony, remove hindrances, and accumulate merit.

In Tara practices, torma offerings are often made to Tara herself or her 21 emanations, expressing devotion, gratitude, and the wish for swift blessings. The offering purifies negativities and opens the heart to receive Tara’s compassionate energy. They are usually accompanied by prayers, chanting, and visualization.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟭 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 are a series of verses that honor Tara in her 21 manifestations, each embodying a unique quality of enlightened action, compassion, and wisdom. Chanting these praises is a powerful practice for invoking her protection, removing obstacles, and cultivating inner strength.

The 21 Praises to Tara is a revered devotional text in Tibetan Buddhism, especially within the Vajrayana tradition. It praises the female Buddha Tara in her 21 emanations, each embodying a specific enlightened quality and associated with a particular color, symbolism, and power to overcome various inner and outer obstacles.

• Tara is considered the embodiment of the compassionate activity of all Buddhas.

• The text originates from Sanskrit sources and was translated into Tibetan.

• Reciting the 21 Praises is believed to bring protection, healing, and swift assistance in times of fear and adversity.

• Removes fears and obstacles (both internal and external)

• Invokes Tara’s swift compassion and guidance

• Cultivates inner peace, abundance, and healing

• Purifies negativities and karmic hindrances

𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 through dance is a sacred, somatic practice that invites participants to embody the energy and qualities of each Tara through intentional movement. This form of ritual dance isn’t about performance — it’s a devotional, meditative expression of the divine feminine in motion.

Ngakpa Henrik Lysøe is a yoga, meditation and tantra teacher. He has studied under Lama Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche, and received ordination as a ngakpa - or tantric priest - under Lama Glenn Mullin. Henrik has also completed a ley-rung, or "qualifying retreat" in the highest tantric cycles (anuttara yoga-tantra), as a qualification to teach others.

Henrik teaches both individuals and groups, in Norway and internationally, and specializes in tailoring practice and pedagogy to meet the individual where they are. This means that - according to tantric traditions - one uses the tendencies, preferences, history and challenges of the individual as spiritual fuel.

Through this method, every aspect of our lives can be integrated into our spiritual perspective and into our practice.
