Celebrating a Local Legend
Frank Schade's impact on Wisconsin basketball spans decades as a player and a coach. His dedication to the sport and commitment to developing young athletes have left an indelible mark on the Oshkosh community and beyond.
Coach Frank Schade's dedication to excellence in basketball and education spans an impressive 42 years, with 31 of those years spent as the head coach at Oshkosh North High School from 1986 to 2017. His record speaks volumes about his coaching prowess, with an overall record of 609 wins and 316 losses, including 437 wins and 234 losses during his tenure
at Oshkosh North.
Coach Schade's achievements extend far beyond mere numbers. His leadership resulted in five Fox Valley Association (FVA) Conference Championships in 1991, 1992, 2009, 2013, and 2017.
Under his guidance, Oshkosh North made five Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) State Appearances in 1992, 1997, 2009, 2012, and 2013. His peers have recognized his exceptional coaching abilities by naming him FVA Coach of the Year an impressive five times.
The impact of Coach Schade's contributions to basketball in Wisconsin has been formally recognized at the highest level. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a player in 2008, a testament to his skill and passion for the game.
In 2017, he received the ultimate honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame again, this time as a coach, cementing his legacy in Wisconsin basketball history. He is currently the only individual in the Wisconsin Hall of Fame in both categories.
