Bats are amazing. They are the only flying mammal, represent nearly 20% of all mammal species and can live up to several decades, producing only one pup per year. Their population are under threat due to white nose syndrome. Relatively little research has been conducted on them in Winnebago County. We will have bat monitoring events to observe bat activity throughout the summer.
Wear walking shoes and dress for the weather. After a brief introduction to bats, we will monitor for bats for about an hour.
This event will be cancelled if it’s too windy or if there is any rain.
