Cold Springs Trail

Cold Springs Trailhead is on the south end of Dent Bridge, about an hour and 20 minute drive from Lewiston. The trail follows the northern arm of the Dworshak Reservoir westward for about 5 miles to the Cold Springs Group Camp. This trail offers tree shade on a northern slope and some access to the lake, should we decide to jump in to beat the heat!

This is a well-maintained trail with a few established camp sites. There is a creek crossing about 2 miles in that offers a refresh on water but there is also access to the reservoir water at the group camp (to filter, of course).

We'll hike five miles out to the group camp, stop for lunch and a dip if you want, then head back for a round trip of approximately 10 miles. This would be a great opportunity to hit up House of JuJu after the hike! ;) We'll see how it goes, eh?

If you'd like to carpool or caravan from Lewiston, meet up in the parking lot of the Community Center off G Street at 7:00 am. We'll hit the road at 7:15 am and make a quick stop at the Orofino City Park to pick up any other carpoolers. If you do want to meet up, please comment here or message me directly. That'll help a lot!

Trail shoes will be just fine on this trail. Bring sun protection, food, and water. Hiking poles may be helpful, and bathing suits may a good option, too.
