About the event

The Godless and the Godly: An Atheist and a Baptist Talk Church and State
We're shaking things up this month! Due to our usual venue being unavailable, we're meeting at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater—same day (3rd Sunday), same time (2:00 PM), exciting new location!

David Williamson, Co-founder of the Central Florida Freethought Community, and Danny de Armas, Senior Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church of Orlando, will tackle one of America's most debated topics head-on: the separation of religion and government. Expect these friends to dive deeply into contentious issues such as prayer in schools, religious symbols on public property, and government funding for religious organizations. After eight years, they've passionately agreed, firmly disagreed, and always come back for more.

This isn't a debate about theology—it's a friendly exploration of common ground and civil discourse on where we differ. Expect honesty, warmth, and some laughs as Danny and David share insights into how friendship can thrive despite differing worldviews.

Come join the conversation, broaden your perspective, and enjoy an afternoon of dialogue and discovery at the Orlando Shakes!

To help with expenses for this event, we suggest a per-person donation for those not already supporting with a recurring monthly donation. That's $5 for local speakers and $10 for out-of-area speakers.

You can sign up for monthly emails with a summary of events. More at https://linktr.ee/cflfreethought
-----
CFFC Educational Events are free and open to the public. Enjoy thought-provoking speakers, local freethought news, state/church activism, volunteer opportunities, and socializing. Come out to meet old friends and make new ones. Coffee and water will be available with snacks served during the social hour after the meeting so plan to stay a while.
CFFC has no membership dues, but we do have recurring expenses that keep the organization running. The largest expense are these monthly meetings (venue, equipment, speaker fees, travel, etc.).
If you share our values, care about the work we do, and find yourself able to contribute, here's a link for you. We love our monthly donors! www.cflfreethought.org/cfldonate
