Plot to Plate Book Club is where literary discussion meets culinary exploration. Participants come ready to dive into the flavors and themes of a featured book—first through hands-on cooking, then around the table with a shared meal and lively conversation. This experience invites you to taste the story, connect with others, and discover how food can deepen our understanding of narrative, culture, and community. Whether you're a passionate reader, a curious cook, or both, this immersive evening promises inspiration, creativity, and connection in every chapter—and every bite.

In this class, we’ll explore the vibrant culinary and cultural crossroads of The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais, where a young Indian chef brings his family’s spirited flavors to an old French village and bridges a literal and symbolic “hundred-foot” gap between two worlds. Together, we’ll cook dishes that blend bold Indian spices with refined French technique and discuss themes of cultural fusion, the healing power of food, creative rivalry, and staying true to one’s roots. As we savor the meal we’ve made, we’ll unpack how food becomes a language of acceptance, transformation, and belonging. Please be sure to read the book before coming to class to enrich our conversation and connection to the menu.
