Hello everyone.
So Kathie & I will not be attending Pennsic this year, along with a bunch of you guys as well. This is indeed sad.
But, on the upside, our house came with a pool that is set up and waiting for people to come play. It's 8 feet at the deep end under the diving board and there's a slide as well.
So we would like to invite everyone who can make it to our house this Saturday (August 2nd) from 10am to whenever for a Pennsic Pity Pool Party.
Please RSVP by Friday noonish so I know how much food & stuff I need to have on hand. Note that I normally overbuy so don't worry if you don't rsvp. The invite includes your family and "mostly significant" others if they want to come. If anyone doesn't want to actually 'pool' or gets tired of the water, there are some gaming systems and a big tv down in the basement as well as sitting areas in the house.
We will have hot dogs and hamburgers with fixens along with some sides and chips. A cooler filled with water, and a small assortment of sodas (please tell us what you like). Feel free to bring what you like if you want to ensure you have your favorite drinks.
There is a small assortment of beer of what I drink, again BYOB if you want something you like.
We will have plastic cups to pour your drinks that come in glass bottles into for usage around the pool.
There is a large assortment of wines and mead in the basement that is decades old whose potability & "quaffability" is not certain. So if you want to experiment with opening & tasting we can do that.
We have a few towels, but you may want to bring your own, along with flipflops or other shoeware to get from the house to the pool. Sunscreen and coverings are your friends.
Our address is 13539 Turnberry Ln in Orland Park. The front door will be unlocked, but it will be easier to come up the driveway to the side door (laundry room) or continue on the path into the backyard. You can park in the driveway if there's space as long as you understand you may need to move if someone wants to leave. Otherwise there's a lot of street parking.
NOTE: We have an old doggie who is half blind and mostly deaf. She also tore the ACL on her back right leg a few weeks ago. She's grouchy and will bark (big dog bark) at you, but has never bitten anyone. She will be in the house along with treats if you want to spoil her. She does not like hands going over her head until after she's had a chance to sniff the hand first, and even then it's best to move the hand around the side by the ear to scritch her.
