From the lyres of ancient temples to the dissonances of the modern age, sound has been understood as a mirror of the cosmos and a guide to the soul. This lecture offers an accessible journey through the history and philosophy of music, tracing how different eras have conceived the meaning of sound.
Together we’ll explore resonance, harmony, and dissonance — forces that shape not only music, but the structure of our world and the texture of our lives. We’ll see how ancient theories of creation anticipate insights of modern philosophy and science. And we’ll discover how the triad, both musical and metaphysical, points to a Trinitarian way of thinking that transcends the rigid dualisms of our time, opening a path toward the Logos — the living Word that orders all things.
