Hello fellow cyclists!
We would like to invite you to join the sMiles for Amanda (an annual event initiated by UOttawa Medical students in memory of our daughter Amanda) Strava club during the month of May to add in your km towards our distance goal and to bring awareness and support for this year’s chosen charity, “Kids Kicking Cancer Heroes Circle Canada”.
The OPP have organized a family friendly in person bike ride on the rail trail as an extension of the UOttawa initiated sMiles for Amanda. The bike ride is on Saturday May 10 beginning at Cottage K across the road from the OPP GHQ in Orillia, Ontario.
Gather there between 9-10. You can ride 10, 30 or 70 km on the rail trail.
There is also a virtual component to sMiles for Amanda.
Anyone from anywhere at anytime during the month of May can add km (walk, run, bike etc) to help achieve the distance goal of getting from Ottawa to Okinawa Japan-a distance of 11,711 km. This is the birthplace of Karate which fits with Heroes Circle, the organization we are supporting this year through sMiles for Amanda.
Heroes Circle uses martial arts techniques to teach children with illness how to cope with pain, fear and anxiety. It is led by black belt instructors in person and on Zoom!
It is free to join the sMiles for Amanda Strava Club and you can add in your km there. Walk, run, ride etc.
We encourage participants to make a donation to Heroes Circle when you sign up for the Strava Club.
