Join us for White Rabbit's Murder & Mayhem Book Group! This book group will be meeting on the third Sunday of most months at 5pm.
Looking for some escapist reading with a who-done-it focus, ending with a little chatting and some nice people? Great conversations and super nice people! We hope you join us! Come to this one, come to all of them or come every now and then--you are always welcome and wanted here.
We typically meet for around 1.5-2 hours with a short break in the middle. If you haven't read the book, but would like to enjoy nice humans, listen to the discussion and maybe ask some questions...absolutely, come :)
Book is not included, but White Rabbit would love for you to use the public library or purchase from an indie! Water and bathrooms are available, and Black Ink will be open for treats or drinks if you so desire--thank you for not bringing in outside food or drink.
It is so helpful if you are able to purchase your ticket in advance--thank you if you are able! If the participation cost ($4.99) is not in your budget, please message us for a link to participate for free, no questions asked. Thanks for checking here or our website for cancellations, it will be posted at least 24 hours in advance.
MOVED TO MAY 30th - Mystery Writer by Sulari Gentill
May 18th - Last Murder At The End of the World by Stuart Turton
June 22nd - Detective Aunty by Uzma Jalaluddin
About the book:
"A gripping tale that reads like a Sherlock Holmes novel set in a broken future...Turton is an exciting writer with a knack for strange tales that push the envelope, and this strange story of murder, survival, and the importance of memory might be his best work yet." ―Gabino Iglesias for NPR
From the bestselling author of The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and The Devil and the Dark Water comes an inventive, high-concept murder mystery: an ingenious puzzle, an extraordinary backdrop, and an audacious solution.
Solve the murder to save what's left of the world.
Outside the island there is nothing: the world was destroyed by a fog that swept the planet, killing anyone it touched.
On the island: it is idyllic. One hundred and twenty-two villagers and three scientists, living in peaceful harmony. The villagers are content to fish, farm and feast, to obey their nightly curfew, to do what they're told by the scientists.
Until, to the horror of the islanders, one of their beloved scientists is found brutally stabbed to death. And then they learn that the murder has triggered a lowering of the security system around the island, the only thing that was keeping the fog at bay. If the murder isn't solved within 107 hours, the fog will smother the island―and everyone on it.
But the security system has also wiped everyone's memories of exactly what happened the night before, which means that someone on the island is a murderer―and they don't even know it.
And the clock is ticking.
