This book group will be meeting on the second Saturday of most months at 6pm.
Great conversations and super nice people! We hope you join us! Come to this one, come to all of them or come every now and then--you are always welcome and wanted here.
We typically meet for around 1.5-2 hours with a short break in the middle. If you haven't read the book, but would like to enjoy nice humans, listen to the discussion and maybe ask some questions...absolutely, come :)
Book is not included, but White Rabbit would love for you to use the public library or purchase from an indie! Water and bathrooms are available, and Black Ink will be open for treats or drinks if you so desire--thank you for not bringing in outside food or drink.
It is so helpful if you are able to purchase your ticket in advance--thank you if you are able! If the participation cost ($4.99) is not in your budget, please message us for a link to participate for free, no questions asked. Thanks for checking here or our website for cancellations, it will be posted at least 24 hours in advance.
Book Group Title:
✨I See You Called in Dead by John Kenney✨ (July 12th, 2025)
About the book:
-INSTANT NATIONAL BESTSELLER
-USA Today April Pick
-An Indie Next & LibraryReads Pick for April
“Razor-sharp, darkly comedic, and emotionally piercing. With the satirical bite of Richard Russo’s Straight Man, the introspection of Fredrik Backman’s A Man Called Ove, and the reinvention of Andrew Sean Greer's Less, Kenney’s vivid prose transforms the mundane into unexpected hilarity.”
―Booklist (starred review)
The Office meets Six Feet Under meets About a Boy in this coming-of-middle-age tale about having a second chance to write your life’s story.
Obituary writer Bud Stanley isn’t really living his best life. He’s fallen into a funk after a divorce. (She left him for another man, who, in fairness, was far more interesting.) He’s not doing his job well. He’s given up on dating. And he’s about to be fired for accidentally publishing his own obituary one mildly drunken night (though technically the company can’t legally fire a dead person).
As Bud awaits his fate at work, he does the only logical thing: He goes to the wakes and funerals of total strangers to learn how to live again.
