Community SING

Join me at St. Fran’s for a Community SING! I offer these on a quarterly basis. SING is always free and open to the public. This one is special though - it’s happening the day after my birthday! In honor of another trip around the sun, I want to dedicate this SING to the feeding of school children who live with weekend food insecurity. We’ll leave a basket out for anybody who wants to give toward the weekend food program that St. Francis runs for several local schools. The good folks at St. Fran’s pack food and deliver it to several local schools every Thursday so that students who need extra weekend nutrition can have it. This is a no-strings-attached practical ministry and it feeds some of my own students.

What is a SING? It’s a multigenerational active music making experience. It’s not a rehearsal and it’s not a concert. There are no performers and there is no audience. There’s just a big circle of people singing music new and old, familiar and unfamiliar, holding all of it in community. You don’t need to have any musical training to join in at a SING. Human beings are musical, period. Come as you are. Bring your voice, as it is. There is room for you in the circle. Community SING at St. Fran’s is also not strictly religious, so while we might share a few hymn tunes, it won’t be a worship service.
