STEP BACK IN TIME with Kathie TO 1621 when history tells us that the PILGRIMS and NATIVE AMERICANS – led by Massasoit – gathered in PLYMOUTH MASSACHUSETTS to give thanks for the bounty of their first harvest. ARTWORKS HELP US TO VISUALIZE THAT FIRST THANKSGIVING BUT HOW ACCURATE ARE THEY? Since the colonists likely ate deer and lobster why do we feast on stuffed turkey and pies? How did one determined woman help establish it as a national holiday? And why are parades and football games now associated activities? USING A BIT OF DETECTIVE WORK WE’LL PROBE THE MYTHS AND UNRAVEL THE RITUALS OF THE FOURTH THURSDAY OF NOVEMBER.
