Walk with SU 28 (Onalaska, Holmen & La Crescent troops) in the Onalaska Memorial Day Parade.
Meet in the parking lot of the Onalaska American Legion at 9:00, the parade begins at 9:30. The parade route is fairly short, going from the American Legion, down Sand Lake to the cemetery on Main Street.
At 10:00, a ceremony will take place at the cemetery which we will remain for.
- This is a formal event to honor and respect the fallen heroes of our country. Please wear khaki pants, shorts or skirts with a white top and your vest, sash or tunic. You will notice other Scouts and service people in their most formal attire. It is our duty to do the same. ❤
- Families and siblings are welcome to walk behind the Girl Scouts with the support vehicle or meet us at the cemetery and may wear patriotic attire.
- It has been warm during this event, wear comfortable shoes and bring your own water. Sun protection is always a good idea!
- We will remain for the ceremony, talk with your Girl about the importance and meaning of Memorial Day and why we honor fallen soldiers.
These videos can help you open the conversation:
- Girls will be dismissed at approximately 11:30, please plan accordingly.
- There will be a reception at the American Legion for the public to participate in following the ceremony. In the past, there has been a short video honoring veterans, light refreshments and community connection. You are welcome to join!
