Learn To Lead is a five-week training to help those interested in service on a nonprofit Board of Directors put their passion into practice. Learn To Lead is free of charge and made possible thanks to a grant from the Volunteer Generation Fund in partnership with AmeriCorps and Serve Wisconsin.

Session Schedule:
August 6 – Board 101
At this intro session led by former School District of La Crosse Superintendent Randy Nelson, you’ll learn how nonprofit boards put mission into motion.
August 13 – Understanding Financials & Board Ethics
Finance and Ethics professionals Wade Hackbarth and Dr. Rick Kyte will cover financial oversight and ethical decision-making for board members.
August 27 – Community Needs & Board Panel
We’ll highlight local needs, followed by an opportunity to hear directly from people who are currently serving on nonprofit boards.
September 3 – Fundraising & Executive Director Panel
Executive Directors from local orgs will be on hand talk fundraising and what’s expected of board members when it comes to raising money.
September 10 – Nonprofit “Speed Dating”
At our final session, Great Rivers United Way will introduce you to some of its nonprofit friends! We’ll shoot professional headshots and celebrate with cake.
