Join us for a Power Hour workout and support Joe Hickey - donations are not expected but appreciated (info below).
Officer Joe Hickey, a School Resource Officer with the Holmen Police Department and a dedicated public servant for 23 years, recently experienced an unexpected, career-ending, and life-changing medical emergency. Joe initially sought medical care for foot pain that was believed to be caused by a stress fracture. Several days later, when the pain significantly worsened, he returned for further evaluation, at which time doctors discovered a serious blood clot in his left leg.
Joe underwent three emergency surgeries in an effort to remove the clot. Unfortunately, circulation had been compromised for too long, resulting in tissue death in part of his lower leg and foot. As a result, doctors were forced to amputate his leg at mid-calf.
Joe is now focused on recovery, rehabilitation, and adapting to life after this sudden and profound change. During this time, he will be unable to work. Funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly toward assisting Joe and his family with everyday expenses while he recovers, helping to ease the financial strain during this difficult period. This fundraiser provides an opportunity for those who know Joe, have worked alongside him throughout his 23 years of service, or support law enforcement to offer their support.
A benefit fundraiser is being planned for this spring, and additional details will be shared when available. In the meantime, any support—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—is deeply appreciated by Joe, his family, and all those standing beside them.
Thank you for your support of Officer Joe Hickey and his family during this challenging time.
