Magic realism is a genre that weaves magical or fantastical elements into an otherwise realistic world, where characters accept the extraordinary events as normal. It is often used to critique social or political issues and is historically associated with Latin American literature, though it is practiced worldwide.
Though there are no representative works of this genre in the unaccompanied flute repertoire, I have decided to present a recital based on myth and legend, telling stories through music, and I will perform in costume. Want to see what type of creature will be playing the flute for you? You can only find out by attending the concert!
