Have you ever thought about the similarities between a turtle shell and a bike helmet? Nature is full of unique adaptations that have inspired human innovation.
Join our partners Nebraska Wildlife Rehab and meet a very special animal guest that will help show off and illustrate natural protective adaptations.
After learning about animals’ amazing built-in defense mechanisms, guests will design and build their own protective coverings in an experiment modeled after real challenges faced in space shuttle design.
This is a fun and exciting way to highlight the power of nature as a model for solving engineering challenges.
After the Nature’s Armor workshop, Nebraska Wildlife Rehab will stay with us for an exciting Curiosity Station: Wings & Things!
Guests can investigate how things like shells, fur, exoskeletons, and feathers found in nature fuel many human-made designs.
